Admissions

The children and young people that we work with at Northcroft are between the ages of 11 - 16, they have Special Educational Needs and/or a Disability (SEND) and have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

Northcroft School schools support children and young people with a variety of needs such as, but not exclusively:

  • Mild/moderate learning difficulties.
  • Speech language and communication needs.
  • Social and emotional, mental health needs.
  • Trauma and attachment needs.
  • Children and young people with neurodiversity such as Autism and ADHD.

We welcome parents/carers to visit the school before applying.

All admission referrals will come directly from the local authority.  A SEN caseworker will send the paperwork through to the school, known as a consultation. Northcroft will then undergo a formal assessment and come to a decision on whether we can meet the child’s needs.

All information you send us will be treated as confidential and saved/shared in line with GDPR guidance.

Visiting the school

After we receive your initial enquiry, the next step is for you to visit us, so that we can better fully understand your childs' needs, abilities and interests.

We might also arrange an outreach visit to their current school and/or care provider, as well as any other external professionals they are working with.

What next?

We will need to complete an official consultation from the Local Authority to make an informed decision about whether the school is right for your child.

If, together, we agree that one of our services is a good fit for your child, we will submit an application to the Local Authority for funding.

Once a placement is agreed, we can begin building a personalised programme to ensure a smooth transition for your child into their new school.

A range of external support is available, or alternatively, our Business Manager or Headteacher is always available to speak to you and guide you through the process.
